Saskatoon tourism

Saskatoon tourism is a big industry, and there are certain places that are a must-see while you are here. In a separate article, we wrote about some of the best Saskatoon attractions for tourists, including The Enchanted Forest, Blackstrap Provincial Park, The Haunted Bebore Hotel, and other great locations. However, we are now going to now focus on perhaps the best place to visit if you are a Saskatoon tourist, and that is TCU Place.

Disclaimer: We are a little biased because TCU Place is our business. Still, it really is a wonderful attraction with so much to do every week.

Feel Free to Check Us Out While You're in Saskatoon

In a way, TCU Place is the heart and soul of Saskatoon. We've been around for more than 50 years, and aside from the famous Bebore Hotel, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more popular place in Saskatoon. Every month, we put on great theatricals, musicals, concerts, productions, events, and more. There's always something going on at TCU Place, and we invite you to pay us a visit. We'd love to make your acquaintance. Our friendly staff will be here to greet you, answer questions, and help you find your way.

We Have Lots of Fun for the Whole Family

Just how popular is TCU Place? And why is it such a common destination for Saskatoon tourism? We always have great performers, whether concerts or shows, such as:

  • Stomp
  • Andre-Philippe Gagnon
  • The White Stripes
  • Alice Cooper
  • The Counting Crows
  • Tegan and Sara
  • Jerry Seinfeld
  • The Symphony Orchestra
  • and many more!

TCU Place's History

In the mid-1960s, there was a strong agenda to build public assembly facilities across Canada. In every capital city throughout the country, assembly facilities went up in haste. At that stage, Regina was set to get some kind of public assembly-type facility, which was called The Centre of the Arts. It's now called the Connexus Art Centre. The mayor of Saskatoon at this time was Sid Buckwold. He decided that Saskatoon needed an assembly centre as well and set about the planning and building processes immediately.

What followed was a $3 million+ building project (a lot of money in the 1960s) that was hotly contested within the Saskatoon Community. Initially designed to be a sort of gathering place for the citizens of Saskatoon, it has morphed into a world-class event and convention centre in Saskatoon.

The Future of TCU Place

Everything changes with time, and so has our needs. Not the least of which has changed (for the better) is Saskatoon tourism. As we passed our 50-year anniversary, TCU Place realized that we need a larger facility to host larger events that we're not able to host right now. As of today, plans are underway to grow and possibly relocate. As of now, TCU Place remains a spectacle in and of itself and a must-see for Saskatoon tourists. As of now, we are still located in the original building on 22nd St. Be sure to follow us on social media to stay up-to-date with our situation.
